How to get to Krakow
By plane
Kraków Airport (John Paul II International Airport Kraków - Balice) (KRK) is the main airport, located in Balice, about 15 km to the west of the centre. The airport is conveniently connected to the city centre by its own frequently running train and bus services.
The journey by train takes approximately 15 minutes. The tickets are available on the train and from the vending machines at the airport (about 3 euros).
There is also a bus connection (buses 208, 252, 902 - the tickets can be bought from the driver or a vending machine at the bus stop). The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

Commuting from the airport to the hotel by taxi would cost around 20 euros.
Another international airport, Katowice Airport (KTW), is situated in Pyrzowice, some 105 kilometers northwest of Krakow.
If you arrive at the Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), there is a good Intercity train connection. The railway station in Kraków is located practically in the city centre (see below).

The city’s main road connections include the A4 motorway to Germany (via Katowice, Opole and Wroclaw), S7 expressway northwards to the Baltic Sea and south to the Mediterranean via Slovakia and Austria, S52 expressway to the Czech Republic.

By train
Dworzec Krakow-Główny is the city's main train station located just outside of the Old Town. It's well connected to other cities in Poland.
There are train connections with Katowice and Warsaw, with travel times of 2 hrs and 2.5 - 3 hrs respectively. There are also some direct international trains to Krakow. Overnight sleeper trains arrive daily from Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Lviv. The station has a left-luggage service, waiting room, small cafes and shops. There's a shopping centre (Galeria Krakowska) located next to the station with some fast-food restaurants. |
